“Madre de la Sierra” is an invitation to remember the interconnectedness of humankind with Mother Earth. Every part of our body can be found in every part of hers. When we desecrate the earth, we desecrate ourselves. When we desecrate ourselves and each other, we desecrate the earth.
“Anugwe (Angüe) Duna” (from the Iku language of the Wintukwa people) is a shared principle amongst the 4 indigenous peoples who inhabit La Sierra - the Wintukwa, Kaggaba, Sankha, and Kankuamo. It means “positive spiritual thought'' or “good spirit”, and it is interpreted as the spirit of caring, complementing and reciprocating all that sustains us alive and all the beings we co-exist with in the Universe. The chorus, “caminando en Anugwe Duna” is a call to humanity to walk in this “Good Spirit”: to walk, talk, think and act in Anugwe Duna, collaborating with all of life.

lyrics
Le le le le le le le le
Le re le le le re
Madrecita de la Sierra
Le le le le le le le le
Le re le le le re
cantamos contigo
Gran maestra de la vida
desde tus cumbres nevadas
a tus ríos serpentinas
todo lo que necesitamos,
lo ofreces con amor
nuestra memoria tallada en tus piedras
nuestro canto en tus brisas
tus árboles nuestras raíces
nuestra fuerza en tu quietud
y así cantamos
Le le le le le le le le
Le re le le le re
Madrecita de la Sierra
Le le le le le le le le
Le re le le le re
cantamos contigo
caminando en Anugwe Duna
la violencia que te traemos
nos duele más de lo que sabemos
las abuelas nos han dicho
Somos un cuerpo con este mundo
los ríos son nuestras venas
la lluvia nuestras lágrimas
los cerros son las curvas
y las cuevas el vientre
Le le le le le le le le
Le re le le le re
Madrecita de la Sierra
Le le le le le le le le
Le re le le le re
cantamos contigo
Caminando en Anugwe Duna (x4)
(vamp through outro)
Madrecita, de la sierra
Anugwe Duna, tu ofrenda
Madrecita, de la sierra
Anugwe Duna, tu ofrenda
Gran maestra, de toda vida
Madrecita, de la sierra
Anugwe Duna, tu ofrenda
Gran maestra, de toda vida
Madrecita, de la sierra…
